“I was the first born to my parents in Hue, Vietnam. My childhood was really characterised by playing football with my three younger sisters or with the kids from the neighbourhood. I was so passionate about the game that I played it whenever possible – sometimes even before school and often I would continue to play when I got back home, right up until the sun would set.

To continue this passion for playing, I started to study physical education at Hue University and I’m currently in my third year. This qualification will enable me to become a teacher for children or even a coach for adults.

After participating in Module 1, together with some of my colleagues I established a football centre in which we organise activities for children. We apply the information, knowledge and skills that we have received from the training course and I share the information that I received with my co-workers. In the future, we have the plan to mix the whole curriculum, and we can use that to expand to the remote areas.

What I enjoyed most about the programme are the football festivals I organised with my fellow Young Coaches. To see the smile on the kid’s faces made me very happy. I still remember in module 2 when we had the first experience with the children with disabilities, I was so happy at that time, I really loved that moment.

Becoming a Young Coach, I have learned a lot about reading children and anticipating what they would like to do. Before the training programme I was very shy and didn’t dare to talk in front of people. I mostly focused on good results and achievements. But now I can speak up and my attention has shifted towards creating fun and exciting activities for the children.”
