“When I was a child, I really loved playing football, but in my town we didn’t have a proper pitch. We didn’t even have a ball to play with. We played with a coconut or whatever we could get. Usually the balls were for the bigger boys when they played together. So, us smaller boys would get together and take whatever we could find to use as a ball to play football that way. Now working in the village and helping the kids play football, I don’t split the kids into separate age groups. I join them so that they play together. So, no matter how old they are, they can all play together with a real football.

Before the Young Coach Education, I already organised trainings for the children in the village. At that time, I didn’t have enough various skills or engaging activities, so the children didn’t pay much attention to the learning process. But after the training I applied what I learnt and now I feel that the children are more interested in my activities and in doing teamwork too. They are also sharing how they feel now.

As a Young Coach of this programme, I can learn many things which are very helpful. For example, you need to be on time, you need to have good discipline, you need to be a good role model for children so this way we can help children to have a better development. When the children are happy, I feel happy too. During the modules I love observing the way in which the different instructors give guidance to the children and how they respect and work with them. I also had the chance to meet many other Young Coaches from different regions in Vietnam and each person has a different character so I could learn how to do teamwork, which is something really important for any kind of work or activity. Since they are so active and enthusiastic in working with children, that motivates me too with my work with the children in the village. This gives me much inspiration and I hope to implement many more activities.

This is a real opportunity for me in joining this programme and I am so proud because I could learn from well-known professional instructors from the clubs. Also, I am very proud that I can get the chance to learn more skills which will enable me to further my work with the children and to provide more activities for them.”
